Age of Conan Rating for NA

Funcom Community Manager has made a correction to the announcement that the ESRB has approved Age of Conan Hyborian Adventures for a Mature 17+ rating. North American gets full blood, full fatalities and partial nudity including bare breasts, which will make some players grateful for breast physics. A public announcement with the complete details is expected February 13.
Funcom has previously released screens featuring full nudity. It will be interest to see if anyone but the developers have access to that particular aspect of the game after censors around the globe have their say.
You know, I’m not a perv, so all in all, nudity in a game is no big deal to me – I could take it or leave it.
However, I am sick and tired of these supposed “moral champions” trying to get rid of nudity in all forms. Any one remember the renaissance and other art periods? Nudity was art. Still is in my opinion. These “champions” are also against most video game violence.
However, these same “moral champions” are perfectly okay with gratuitous violence and gore in movie; just give it an “R” rating and move on. However, a game with an “M” rating (which is the equivalent of a movie’s “R” rating), can’t have nudity based on lore or mythology (Dryads in “The Witcher”).
And apparently its okay to show bloody, dismembered bodies in the news. I remember a bit back the news showed all the atrocities that happened in countries that will not be named. That was fine, but let’s not show adults (”M” rated games are for adults, remember?) where and what they fed on for the first months of their lives.

I agree with the above commend, true that nudity doesn’t really make a game great, because it doesn’t matter in the game. If the game was based solely on the nudity being in the game, its a bad game. but the game should be released the way that it was intended to be by the developers before they received their rating.
Nudity never offends me anymore. Anyone who has ever watched NYPD Blue could ever be offended again by nudity once they have seen Dennis Frantz’s cottage cheese butt.

I’m sick and tired of rants by people who are sick and tired. Let the “moral champions” fight “the nudity”. Who cares. The games/movies with nudity are still being made. 14 year olds will continue to clamor for it. Don’t worry, your nudity laden “mature” video games are perfectly safe. Just ignore the people who are bothered by it.
