Age of Conan: Classes Merged, Down from 14 to 12

While visiting Funcom in Oslo Norway, MMORPG Managing Editor Jon Wood was told that the four of the classes for Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures have been merged into two classes.
The Stormcaller and Scion of Set have been combined to create the Tempest of Set class. Essentially, the new class is the best abilities of both classes.
The Lich has been added into the necromancer class, giving players more options. Necromancers will be able to turn themselves into a Lich. The biggest difference is that the Lich class was formerly a melee class, and will now be a caster class.
I think this is a smart move. Too many choices for character classes can weaken gameplay. The classes that were merged were very similar to begin with, making them redundant. As for the change from melee to caster for the Lich, traditional Liches are usually more spell slingers than hack n’ slashers.

There is alot of thought going into the development of this game, the more I read into it the more I want to play it. I really hope it will be as good as the stuff I am reading about it.
