Advance Wars: Days of Ruin is Lookin’ Good

I’ve been a really big fan of Advance Wars since the original GBA title, despite not being much of one for strategy games. I’m awful at them and have too much of an FPS mentality to ever really have the patience in RTSs – let alone a turn-based affair, like Advance Wars. But AW has always had a charming story and accessible gameplay that’s been quite a hit amongst gamers. Naturally, you can imagine I wasn’t too happy when I heard the sequel to the first DS Advance Wars (which was cleverly titled Dual Strike) wouldn’t have any of the characters we’ve come to know in the first few games.
But, I’m no longer worried. Call me an early bird, but just by taking a look at these screens of Advance Wars: Days of Ruin, it looks like it’s still got the familiar Advance Wars style with a slightly new look. Previous AW games were always very bright, whereas the style appears to be darker and grittier. Color me excited for Days of Ruin, which is releasing on January 21.

this is looking good, these games are always a fun way to waste a few hours.
Yeah, I”m really looking forward to it. There just aren’t enough games like this.
