activision1 Activision Promises a Better Effort on Wii Games

First Ubisoft apologizes to Wii owners for making bad games, and now Activision is promising to ramp up their efforts for Nintendo’s white power box. In a recent conference call, Activision CEO Robert Kotick admitted that his company did not put their best foot forward for Nintendo’s last console, the Gamecube.

“[GameCube] really became a non-strategic platform for us, and most of our development effort was focused on straight ports at low costs to leverage our franchises.”

He explained also that third-party developers had a really tough time competing against Nintendo’s own games for the Gamecube. However, he has promised that this will not be the case for the Wii, as the system in already looking to be far more successful than the Gamecube. Also, because the significant hardware and control changes, third-party developers can come up with their own ways to use the device:

“We’re reinvesting against the Nintendo platform in a way that in the last cycle we really did not.”

Excellent. Another developer bows to the throne of the Wii. Tremble mortals, for the age of Nintendo’s dynasty be upon us. Well, maybe. It is pretty cool to have all these developers suddenly turning around and being like, “Sorry, guys. Our bad. We’ll get it right next time.”
