Activision, Pontiac, and Hot Topic Team Up for Guitar Hero III Contest

What do Activision, Pontiac, and Hot Topic have in common? Besides a terrible racer I just invented in my head where angst-ridden teenagers compete for black clothing and brightly colored hair dye, there’s also a contest being sponsored by all three. Starting tomorrow and running until December 5th, Guitar Hero III competitions will be held at designated times in eight cities across the U.S. for gamers age 16 and up. Winners of each competition will win a $100 gift card to Hot Topic and will have their score entered to compete in the Grand Finals. Two finalists will then be selected to win a trip for two to Los Angeles and compete in front of the game’s creators at Activision. The Grand Prize Winner will get to drive away with a new 2008 Pontiac G5.

A $100 gift card to Hot Topic ain’t too shabby by itself. They’ve still got awesome shirts, despite the fact that every store no matter where you go smells like a rock concert after a thousand sweaty fans have passed through. Qualifying will take place from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at each stop on the tour. The top eight scores from the Qualifying Round will proceed to the Semi-Final Rounds which will immediately follow.
