A Zelda Game We Should All Forget

Unfortunately, I do remember Zelda: Wand of Gamelon. The year was 1993 and it was released for the Phillips CD-i, which was a rushed system that faded into obscurity rather quickly. The CD-i actually managed to butcher Zelda with several games and other loved characters such as Mario. I assume the only great thing that came from the CD-i was Sony’s decision to enter the video game market with their PlayStation, which was heavily influenced by deals going on with Phillips at the time.
I hope you enjoy the above video and take it as a simple history lesson showing how absolutely terrible some video games have been in the past and how far we have come. I certainly hope that we never see Zelda cheapened in the future the way it was on the CD-i.

…That ending scarred me for life.
Its fascinating that Sony’s decision to enter the gaming market with a CD based system was actually down to the fact that they designed a CD add on for Nintendo and were also due to launch a joint ‘Play Station’ console with them but Nintendo pulled out at the last minute and chose to join up with Phillips instead. Sony then just decided to continue making the console on their own.
it really is fascinating what happened. Nintendo really screwed up that deal.
lopolo the ending really is kind of wacked out
If Nintendo hadn’t done it, where would we have been without the Playstation?
Anyway, I actually hope they release this game on the wii virtual console.
Oh my, that was just painful…
