A Brief History of Video Games

Say what you will about YouTube, if you look hard enough, you are bound to run into something worthwhile. This is one of those times. Running in at right under 4 minutes, this brief look at the entire history of video games speaks volumes while saying nothing at all. While there are some missing titles, (Starfox?) the vast majority of gaming genres are represented. What you have to realize is that this list extends from 1972-2007. In a little over 3 decades, the gaming industry has reached levels of sophistication never before dreamed of. The real question is, where will we be in another 30 years?

Nice video but it’s a shame they included so many driving games but missed out Grna Turismo which is the biggest selling and (imo) best series.

It was nice to see Bubble Bobble though

Thank you for that trip down memory lane. So many great games of the past that i remember, i wont make any comments on missed games because of course its impossible to fit in all the good games that different people like. But after watching that it made me realize how far we have come in video games and how time has passed. Many of those games I have played and had fun playing them, It was worth it. thats what its all about good games, old and new.

I must have played 90 percent of those games at one time or another. I’ve always said I’m jealous of what my 4 year old son will be playing in 30 years (I should be playing with him though).
