Editor Charles Husemann of Gamingnexus.com posted his analysis of the death of E3. Overall the article details how the many factors like publisher excess, the ESA’s failure to control attendance and big companies like Microsoft and Nintendo contributed to the demise if what had become the banner event in gaming.
Having attended the last E3 ever (No I don’t consider what is happening this year to be the same or even close) I can attest to the multitude of unwashed masses crowding the show floor and generally getting in the way of publishers, retail buyers and press doing their jobs and having meetings.
I do wish they had adopted a more Detroit Autoshow like approach rather than the elite and limited format they ended up with – having a day for retailers and press and opening the show to a more general audience for the remainder of the program.
Do you agree with Charles’s conclusions?
