15 Reasons The Xbox 360 Will Have Another Great Year In 2008

Microsoft may have some serious customer satisfaction issues right now, but the great games keep coming for the system and will certainly have a huge impact on the continued success of the 360. Despite XBLA and XBL issues, I believe that the 360 will have another great year simply because of the great games coming to the system. Below, I have listed 15 games that are at the top of my wish-list for 2008 Xbox 360 titles. For now, all of these games should be releasing this year, but as always, expect at least a few to be delayed. I truly believe that the Sony PS3 will finally have a good year and could possibly outsell Microsoft, but it’s a long year and no one knows how things will go down. The following 15 games certainly look like we could be experiencing another great year in gaming: (note that some of these titles are still rumors)

Microsoft announced at the CES that they’ve shipped (sold to retails) 17.7 million Xbox 360s.
VG Chartz and (adjusted) NPD data reveal that Microsoft has sold 16.3 million Xbox 360s to consumers.
If you use a little bit of common sense: That’s mean 90 percent of Xbox 360 were being sold through quickly.
I visit my local Target, Wal-mart and Best Buy frequently (to look for a Wii.) The Wii is never there. Xbox 360 is sold out most of the time, so people couldn’t buy any even if they want one. On the other hand, anyone who wants a PS3 can buy a PS3: the store shelves are always full of them.
And that is why PS3 is outselling Xbox 360 on a global basis: because Microsoft could not make more Xbox 360s to sell them. The PS3 is outselling Xbox 360 – simply because Sony is making more consoles than Microsoft is able to.
And that is also the reason why Microsoft is not cutting Xbox 360 prices right now: because they can hardly keep up with the demand, why should they cut prices?
This is like a while ago, the PS3 fans got so happy because the PS3 finally outsold the Wii in Japan for a month… well, turned out that the reason the PS3 was able to outsell the Wii is because Nintendo rerouted the supply from Japan to the West to meet Christmas demands. So even as all the Wiis were selling out in Japan, the PS3 were still outselling the Wii in November because Japanese could not get any Wii. All the Wiis had been shipped to the US and Europe. That’s the reason the PS3 outsold the Wii in November. What’s there to be happy about?
Nintendo DS is also selling out in all over the US at the moment.
I dont care on this topic. Both consoles will do good. people fight like children, i dont think anyone here works for either company, so why bother.
I know that most my friends have a Wii and a Xbox 360. For myself i dont have a PS3 because im waiting for some games that “I” like to be out for the system, then ill get a PS3. The Xbox 360 had a good year like all consoles did. Im sure the PS3 will have lots of great games out this year as well. PPL stop your arguing. its only a Game system, shouldnt it be fun?
Just to fill in with what’s already been posted.
Microsoft had three suppliers/manufacturers for Xbox 360: Wistron, Celestica and Flextronics. (All Taiwanese.)
Microsoft and Wistron “broke up” in October-November. Wistron supplied over 30-40 percent of Xbox 360s in the world. Wistron (preemptively) claimed that Microsoft pressured them to cut cost, and they refused and walked out. (I think the Taiwanese-Chinese called that as an effort to “save face”.) However, the rumors I’ve heard from some financial analysts suggested that Wistron was “sacked” because Microsoft finally traced most of the Red-Rings-of-Death consoles back to them…. Allegedly there’s more than just a “design issue” after all.
Celestica and Flextronics are picking up the slacks right now. So basically Microsoft just lost a major Xbox 360 production line. Microsoft has not found a replacement yet. That happened back in November (a terrible timing and waste, Microsoft lost 30-40 percent of its production capacity for 360 just during the shopping season.)
Of course, by some sheer coincidence, the end of November, the PS3 started to outsell Xbox 360, and Xbox 360 sales started stalling. Now, just connect the dots.

At least in the local retail outlets I’ve visited, the Wii is the only console not on shelves right now. Both the PS3 and 360 are readily available in multiple SKU’s.
As far as who will have the best year in 2008, I believe it will be the PS3. Why? Well, the 360 has already been on the market for 2 years. They’ve already sold through millions of the things. The PS3 is only now entering its second year on the market, and consoles traditionally sell the best in their second market year. Couple that with the exclusive titles, and the issues that MS is having with RRoD and XBox Live, and you have a prime opportunity for Somy to reclaim some of their lost market share. You also have to keep in mind that people who haven’t gone to a current console yet and are still playing PS2 have a vested interest (read as familiar exclusives) to hop up to the PS3.
Still, it’s no sure thing. I expect both consoles to continue to sell well. Only one thing is near certain, and that’s that the PS3 will have a better year in 2008 than it did in 2007.
Oh, and drop the fanboy rhetoric. When consoles compete, gamers win. That’s a good thing, folks.

The PS3 is selling better than the 360 for the simple reason that the 360 isn’t very popular outside of America. According to you that’s because everyone is sold out but I just took a look at Amazon in the UK and in stock ready to ship for tomorrow they have the 20gb, the Elite, the Arcade and even a load of Halo 3 Limited Editions left over.

Every console except the 360 sells about twice as many units outside the US as it does in the US, the 360 however actually sells fewer units outside the US than it does at home.

I suggest you buy a dictionary and look up exclusive because you obviously have no idea what the word means. I have Gears of War and Bioshock yet I do not own a 360. HOW THE FUCK DOES THAT MAKE EITHER OF THOSE GAMES 360 EXCLUSIVES? Being only on the 360 in console form obviously is a plus for the system but that doesn’t somehow magically make the PC version not exist.

Where the heck did you guys get the numbers that PS3 was outselling Xbox 360?
Seeking Alpha has some transcripts from conference calls between Microsoft execs and investors, and they said Xbox 360 has been outselling PS3 in the US, Canada, the UK, Australia, Asia (outside Japan), Latin American, and South America. Unless those execs lied to their investors or something.
The only two places in which PS3 outsold Xbox 360 are Japan and part of continental Europe. Unfortunately, Japan + Continental EU add up can’t beat the US + Canada + Australia + Asia outside Japan + Latin American + South America.
When were these calls made?

VGChartz arent exact but they are the most accurate resource on earth for software and hardware sales.
I’m quite sure Xbox 360 has been outselling the PS3 on a consistent basis in South Korea. In case you don’t already know, we have plenty of reasons to prefer American products over any Japanese products.
VGChartz data seem to be incomplete. South Korea is not even in there. The entire Asia is missing except for Japan.
And where’s India? Russia? South America?

This isn’t Microsoft talking to their investors, its Microsoft PR men talking up the 360 to investment analysts. Its basically the same as Bill Gates saying the new 360 is the most reliable console made. They have sold more units in total in the UK and Australia but they are now being outsold by the PS3 on a weekly basis. The PS3 has actually sold something like twice as many units per week in its lifetime in Pal regions than the 360 has. Basically its selling twice as fast in those regions than the 360 did.

No disrespect to Korea but the home console market there is pretty much insignificant (we are talking a couple of thousand in a good a week). As of last August the 360 had only sold 133k in Korea. The numbers are included in the total shipment figures released by Sony @ Microsoft and factored from that.
Not just South Korea but the entire Asia outside Japan.
China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, India, etc. All those markets combined.
So the VGCharts supposedly said that the PS3 had been outselling Xbox 360 IN THE PAST TWO WEEKS (out of 52 weeks in one year)… but ONLY by a few thousand units. You put all those markets together, Xbox 360 would have a lead over the PS3.
Heck, if you put South Korean numbers into there, Xbox 360 already overtook the PS3 in the past two weeks.
The problem with those Chartz data is that they show the PS3 only has a few thousand units over Xbox 360, but they’re also missing so many regions. If you put all those regions in, the data would be very different.
The PS3 sold over 62,987 more units last week than the 360 not ‘a few thousand’.

Myself i own a DS, PSP, Wii, and defently a Xbox 360, i support moneysoft, nintendo and sony in someway or another. I can see owning a console and then wanting to defend it. The truth is all consoles are doing great. Neither will ever do poorly, Each will have great games out for it until the next wave of next gen consoles.
I personaly like the Xbox 360 over the PS3. However some prefer the PS3, its all about choice, so im entitled to my choice, no need to rant on the PS3, its just a game console.

I’ve been a lurker on playdigital.tv. And as I’ve observed, Nordit has also been an ill-behaved spoiled brat over there, attacking other people who are not worshiping Sony like he does or simply disagreeing with him. Anyway, we really can’t say who’ll have a bigger lineup in 2008 until the fall actually arrives.
I remember back in early 2007, the PlayStation 3 was also poised to have a much bigger and attractive all-star game lineup than the Xbox 360. PS3 had Lair, Heavenly Sword, The Eye of Judgment, Ratchet & Clank Future, Uncharted… the list just goes on and on; and everyone was saying Xbox 360 only had Gears of War and nothing else. Up ’till E3 2007 and before fall 2007 actually arrived, everyone thought Lair, Heavenly Sword and all the other PS3 supposed “heavy hitters” of 2007 would bury Xbox 360.
Well, we all know how that turned out.
There’s really no need to take a PS3 vs. 360 stance here. They are both going to have good years.

The 360 in my opinion will again come out with better games in 08. Frankly I dont really care who sells more as it has no direct impact to me at all. What I care about is games.
The PS3 is all about harware. You got your bluetooth and Blu Ray but nothing to due with software. MS is a software company and have proven that there software is better, innovative, and more complete then the PS3. Examine the following:
1. New gaming franchises:
Gears of War, Too Human, Alan Wake, Halo Wars, Mass Effect, BioShock, etc. What exactly is anyone looking forward to the PS3 for? MGS4, FF13, Socom, Gran Turismo…they may be innovative in some way but they run along the lines of the same thing dont they?
2. Integrative Gaming:
The next step in gaming is online and multiplayer. I feel that this area will be dominated by the 360 and microsoft for a long time. They have spent way to much time and way to much money trying to perfect the service they offer. I have a PS3 and rarely do you catch me playing it online whereas I always play my 360 online.
3. Several Unannounced Killer Apps
I am a firm believer that 360 owners can expect several games that have yet to be announced. I can almost bet the KOTOR III, Killer Instinct 3, Gears of War 2, etc. all come out this year to combat Sonys impressive lineup.
Personally, I feel that is MS continues to perfect its service and releases 3-5 great games they will again come out on top in terms of sales. Dont get me wrong I love my PS3 and have nothing against Sony but up until now I have seen nothing in terms of Software. I have low expectations for game releases this year coming from them. I think MGS4 will be the game of the year but beyond that I dont see anything that stellar. Killzone 1 was a bust, I own it so I no, FF13 doesnt really interest me as the last few have been bad, and LBP is not my type of game.
MS will continue to position themselves this year to become the preimer gaming console.
Personally I don’t care for all this hyperbole, but the Playstation 3 will be stomped this year.
The games of the moment are Call of Duty 4, Halo 3, Bioshock and new innovative franchises like Mass Effect.
That’s not going to change when Final Fantasy 13 finally arrives either, as I can tell you the sales will be way behind previous installments.
Fact is the industry is changing with all sorts of new games like Rock Band, and Splinter Cell Conviction (only on 360) will sell out as well. And these new franchises are what excite people more, things like Too Human the trilogy. Not the eightieth reincarnation of Gran Turismo 5, I’m sorry.
The world doesn’t care about that stuff. And if we include South Korea, plus heavy hitter games like Blue Dragon 2 on top of it, the PS3 has been outsold by 360 even WHEN it was in stock for the entire year 2007 and will CONTINUE TO BE SO——- Into 2008 and beyond, with GTA4 and Warhound coming out along with more games such as Sacred 2: Fallen Angel. Halo Wars will be a system seller.
well personlly i own a ps3 and i like the 360 better.in some ways the ps3 is better and some ways the 360. i just hate the wii. what game system has barely any mature games.the wii is a baby system.

The PS3 is a better console and is better for the money, I can not deny that, but both the Wii and 360 are way more fun. Also the Wii is aimed more towards party play and family gaming than any other console, bringing a new generation of gamers into the mix. The 360 and PS3 are for dedicated gamers.
If you care about statistics or you are a true gamer, the PS3 is your console but if you game for pure fun, there is nothing wrong with either the 360 or Wii. Each console is aimed at a different market and so none of them are rubbish.
Where’s gears of war 2? i don’t think me or anybody who even PLAYED gears of war can wait for it to come out
I own a 360 and it has worked great for me for the past year. The Halo franchise has been the best thing to happen to a console(s) since The Legend of Zelda franchise for Nintendo.
But I must say, with the way the PS3 keeps dropping in price, it would look great in my living room as a blu-ray player.

People who think Xbox 360 will win this year have another thing coming. They got mainly Gears of War 2 on their side. The Halo series won’t serve much if not in first person (the RTS style looks bad). Anyway, many of the titles you listed are multiplatform anyway. Sure, the X360 has the lead now cause it was introduced a year earlier but the PS3 will gain a lot of momentum this year, and quite possibly, even out the odds. The other posters already discussed the PS3 titles this year. Plus, with the support of most movie corporations on Blu-Ray, PS3 will beat out the Xbox 360.
And to the ignorant fool “Why Xbox is better” let me say this: Halo series is all fine and dandy, but not when you rely your entire sales on it. And don’t even give me any garbage on how PS3 games are terrible. And, by the way, there is no way in hell MGS4 will go to the 360. So get your finger out of your ass, moron.

I have to say Xbox 360 is way better than Xbox and i enjoy the 360. But ever since i started playing games, PlayStaion 1-2 were the best and i kno PS3 will make a comeback no matter what the odds r. I bet most people here had play the ps1 and ps2 and loved it and now brought an Xbox360. Whether is this year or next year or any year the ps3 soon gona be better than the 360 no doubt about it and most of u kno it.

The 360 is usually more and action/ shooting game console mainly because of the trigger and the way the controls are set out to be
Ps3 on the other hand is more like an rpg games are usually better on the ps3 cause this is what the game makers work more on for the ps3
And last but not least the wii more of a party gaming system and for instance light headed fun and has always been that way
So it comes down to you personal likings if you like shooting games you’re more likly then not to fanboy with the 360 same as for the other consoles.
